Lithuanian national Arturas Labanauskas, 35, of Coral Park, Maidstone, admitted one charge of burglary when he appeared back at the scene of his crime, Maidstone Magistrates' Court, on Monday, 27th January 2020.
Labanauskas also admitted one charge of possession of cannabis, which was discovered in his home after his arrest.
Non-dwelling burglary, as in this case, is an offence under section 9 of the Theft Act 1968. It is triable either way and has a maximum sentence of 26 weeks' custody on summary conviction or 10 years' custody on conviction on indictment.
As we briefly reported at the time, Labanauskas broke into the court building at around 5 am on Sunday, 7th July 2019. He used a large stone to smash his way into the building, which adjoins the local police station.
The crime was reported the following morning when security staff turned up to find the building "trashed" and computer equipment missing.
The Crown Prosecution Service placed the cost of damage at £2,365 and valued the stolen computer equipment at £202.
Labanauskas cut himself during the commission of the burglary and was identified by DNA analysis and CCTV footage.
Gill Fryzer, Presiding Justice, said: "We have heard your guilty pleas to burglary and possession of cannabis but we can't sentence you today.
"It would not be right for this court to sentence you, so you will need to go to Medway Magistrates' Court."
Labanauskas was granted conditional bail until his sentencing hearing at Medway on Tuesday, 18th February 2020.
Given the circumstances as described, it is entirely likely he will receive a custodial sentence.
