A prolific Derby shop thief has been convicted of stealing body care products from the same garage on three consecutive days.
Katrina McClean, also known as Katrina Kelly, 41, of Osmaston Road, Derby, admitted three charges of theft when she appeared in custody at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court last week.
Magistrates heard that the new offences, which took place at the Esso Service Station on the city's Chellaston Road on 29th, 30th and 31st March 2020, put McClean in breach of a suspended sentence order imposed on 11th December 2019.
That sentence was imposed in relation to the theft of £200 of goods from a different Esso Service Station, on the city's Harvey Road, on 15th October 2019.
In relation to the new offences, prosecutor Mark Stocks described how McClean entered the Chellaston Road shop on three consecutive days, concealed body care products with a total value of £170 in her bag and left without offering payment.
She was subsequently identified as the culprit and arrested.
Alice Hornsby, mitigating, said: "The defendant has a long history of class A drug misuse. She committed these offences to fund her habit. That was her motivation."
Given McClean's history of offending, Magistrates' determined that the new offences were so serious that only a custodial sentence was appropriate. They also decided to activate December's suspended sentence in full.
McClean was sentenced to 12 weeks' custody for the new offences, to run consecutively to 12 weeks' custody for the activated suspended sentence.
She was also ordered to pay £122 victim surcharge.
