Liverpool Man Sent Sexual Messages About 13-Year-Old Girl to Her Mother

A Liverpool man has been convicted of sending Facebook messages to a woman asking to have sex with her 13-year-old daughter.

Ryan Taylor, 40, of Marsh Lane, Bootle, admitted an offence under section 1 of the Malicious Communications Act 1988 when he appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Friday, 6th November 2020.

The maximum penalty for such an offence is 26 weeks' custody and/or an unlimited fine on summary conviction; 2 years' custody and/or an unlimited fine on conviction on indictment.

Magistrates heard that Taylor sent a Facebook friend request to the woman, who he did not know, before making disturbing comments about what he would like to do to her schoolgirl daughter.

Taylor told the woman that her daughter was "a 10" on some sort of degrading score system, adding "so there is no reason for me not to want sex with her."

Prosecutor Jonathan Wilson told the court that one of Taylor's messages said "if you let me have her" accompanied by an image of a wad of cash.

The disgusted mother threatened to report him, saying: "Now you want to pay for her? What sort of creep are you? You're sick."

Taylor replied: "I want her. What's your problem?"

The woman told the man "My daughter's only 13, she's not up for grabs."

She also said: "You're sick. You're close to getting reported to the police. You're asking to pay for my daughter to have sex with you. What sort of creep are you?"

Taylor became angry when the woman turned the tables on him by asking: "How would you feel if someone was asking to pay for your daughter?"

He snapped back: "Don't talk about my baby."

The case was listed before the court for the fourth time, with Taylor denying the charge until the start of his trial on Friday.

Magistrates heard that Taylor had previous convictions for assault by beating and criminal damage. He had previously been made subject to a suspended sentence and community order, but had not fully engaged with the Probation Service.

Presiding Justice George Carter adjourned the case for sentencing and ordered the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Taylor was granted unconditional bail until his sentencing at the same court on Thursday, 4th December 2020.
