Drunk Cheshire Woman Hid in Bushes After Crashing Motorcycle

A drunk Cheshire woman hid in bushes after crashing her motorcycle into a parked car.

Nikki Evans, 21, of Riveracre Road, Ellesmere Port, admitted offences of driving whilst over the prescribed limit for alcohol and failing to stop after an accident when she appeared at Chester Magistrates' Court on Friday, 29th August 2025.

Driving whilst over the prescribed limit is an offence contrary to section 5(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988. It has a maximum sentence of 26 weeks' custody and/or a fine at level 5 (unlimited) on summary conviction.

Magistrates heard that Evans was seen riding her motorcycle on Chester Road, Ellesmere Port, just before midnight on Monday, 5th May 2025.

The witness saw Evans collide with his parked vehicle, causing substantial damage, before remounting her motorcycle and riding a short distance further down the road.

Anthony Carey, prosecuting, said that Evans returned to the scene and told the witness she had dropped her phone. Sensing Evans was intoxicated, the witness removed her motorcycle keys so she could not try to ride away for a second time.

Police arrived a short time later and found Evans hiding in a bush close to the scene of the collision.

Evans, who is studying for a law degree in the Netherlands, admitted to officers that she had been drinking with friends earlier in the evening.

An evidential specimen of blood was found to contain 104 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, which exceeds the prescribed limit of 80 milligrammes.

Selina Woodward, mitigating, said her client had made a "silly decision" to ride home on her motorcycle.

She added that the 21-year-old had been fearful of the consequences, which is why she had tried to leave the scene and hide in the bushes.

Evans was fined £120 for each offence and ordered to pay £96 surcharge and £85 towards prosecution costs.

She was also disqualified from driving for a period of 16 months.
