Eyes Down for Bail Breach

A Narbeth man was arrested for breaching his bail conditions when his mother inadvertently locked him out of the house.

Angelo Edwards, of Garfield Gardens, appeared in custody at Haverfordwest Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 24th April.

He is currently awaiting trial and one of his bail conditions is a curfew between the hours of 6 pm and 8 am.

On the evening of Monday, 23rd April the 33-year-old had arrived home shortly before 6 pm, but was unable to gain access to the property because his mother was out playing bingo.

Recognising his predicament he immediately contacted the police to inform them of the situation. By the time the police arrived Edwards was technically in breach of his curfew conditions, so was arrested and hauled back before the court.

Prosecutor Dennis Davies conceded that given the circumstances Edwards was "doomed to fail".

Edwards denied breaching his bail conditions and Mr Davies took the pragmatic approach of withdrawing the charges.

A victory for common sense!
