The former First Minister of Scotland, The Rt. Hon. Alex Salmond, has been acquitted of fourteen sexual offence charges by a jury at Edinburgh's High Court of Justiciary.
We provided details of those charges in an earlier article.
The jury rejected prosecution claims that Mr Salmond had abused his political position to take advantage of several women.
Speaking outside court after the hearing, Mr Salmond said his faith in Scottish justice had been reinforced.
"As many of you will know, there is certain evidence I would have liked to have seen led in this trial but for a variety of reasons we were not able to do so", the former SNP leader said.
"At some point, that information, that facts and that evidence will see the light of day.
"Whatever nightmare I have been through over the last two years it is as nothing compared to the situation we are all going through.
"If you can, go home, take care of your families, God help us all."
