Reminder: TikTok Creator Mizzy on Trial for Alleged Breaches of Criminal Behaviour Order

The TikTok creator known as Mizzy, real name Bacari-Bronze O'Garro, will stand trial today accused of four offences of breaching a criminal behaviour order.

O'Garro's trial, which is scheduled to last all day, is listed at 10 am in courtroom 5 at Stratford Magistrates' Court.

The 19-year-old, who has shot to fame owing to his outrageous social media stunts, was made subject to the order on 24th May 2023, when he was convicted of breaching a community protection notice.

It included a prohibition on him uploading video footage to social media without the explicit consent of those featured in it. It also prohibited him from attending the Westfield Centre in Stratford.

O'Garro is accused of breaching the order by uploading footage of people filmed without their explicit consent twice on 24th May, on 26th May and on 7th July 2023. The allegations from 24th May are said to have occurred within hours order being made, which, if proven, the court will take a particularly dim view of.

According to information disclosed at an earlier hearing, O'Garro denies uploading the footage either directly or indirectly.

The maximum penalty for breaching a criminal behaviour order is 6 months' imprisonment and/or on summary conviction; or 5 years' imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine on conviction on indictment.

As O'Garro is accused of more than one breach, the Magistrates' Court has a maximum sentence of 12 months' imprisonment available should he be convicted.

I shall write further once the outcome is known.

Update (26/10/23): The decision is in.

Update (21/11/23): O'Garro has now been sentenced.
