Ebs Akintade: TalkTV Newspaper Reviewer Sentenced for Stalking Another Ex-Partner

Ebs Akintade Stalker

Broadcaster Ebs Akintade, who occasionally features on obscure radio and television channels, has been sentenced for stalking yet another of his ex-partners.

Ebunolu Akintade, 42, of Rayon Close, Hacken, SM6, admitted the offence of stalking causing serious alarm or distress when he appeared at Bexley Magistrates' Court on Monday, 25th September 2023.

This is an offence under section 4A of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. It has a maximum penalty of 6 months' custody and/or an unlimited fine on summary conviction; 10 years' custody and/or an unlimited fine on conviction on indictment.

Given the circumstances, described in my earlier article, Magistrates deemed their sentencing powers insufficient and sent the matter to Woolwich Crown Court for sentencing.

Akintade was sentenced by HHJ Christopher Grout on Tuesday, 12th December 2023.

Briefly, Akintade stalked his former boyfriend, NHS worker Robert McDonnell, between 1st August and 30th November 2022.

During that time he made numerous unsolicited phone calls and visits to his ex-partner's home. He also set up a fake dating app account in an effort to worm his way back into the man's affections.

Mr McDonnell told the court that he was "petrified" at the way Akintade was "completely fixated" with him. He was so concerned that he changed the locks at his home and made adjustments to his daily routine. He described "looking both ways" and being fearful every time he set foot out of his home, just in case Akintade was lurking nearby.

On one occasion Mr McDonnell caught the deviant broadcaster sneaking into his flat, late at night, when he thought it would be unoccupied.

Akintade has a previous stalking conviction dating back to 2020. His target on that occasion, another ex-partner, was gaslighted and bombarded with rambling love letters, unwanted telephone calls and visits over a six month period.

Arrogant Akintade, who considers himself some sort of mental health guru, claimed he was trying to offer Mr McDonnell mental health support - just as he claimed in relation to his first victim.

Given his pattern of offending, I have previously described the former BBC London and Radio Jackie presenter as "some sort of narcissistic social misfit, who clearly struggles to maintain healthy relationships with his former partners".

To make matters worse, Akintade has demonstrated a clear inability to acknowledge his own offending behaviour. It would appear he has also sought to hide reference to his criminality from the web by making spurious copyright and GDPR takedown requests.

I have every confidence he will make similar attempts to have this latest news expunged from the web. The only consolation is that no self-respecting media outlet is going to touch him with a barge pole now.

HHJ Grout was of the view that Akintade's latest offence was so serious that only a custodial sentence was appropriate. However, having heard the ex-presenter was undergoing treatment for his criminal tendencies, the Judge was persuaded to suspend the custodial term.

Akintade was sentenced to 2 years' custody suspended for 18 months, with the requirement that he be subject to GPS trail monitoring for 4 months, undertakes 100 hours' unpaid work and attends up to 30 rehabilitation days.

He was also ordered to pay £187 surcharge.

HHJ Grout also imposed a new restraining order, which prohibits Akintade from any contact whatsoever with Mr McDonnell for a period of 10 years.
